Nothing Left To Say

musician/member name: Film & Animation
Duration: 00:03:26
description:
I wrote this song to depict my sadness over the end of Autumn with the departure of the majestic foliage. The time of year when the trees have… nothing left to say. *sigh*

Hi there Mary!  How are things down at your end of the state?  Thanks so much for your kind words!  blush   Yes, I am really missing those leaves now!  Let's see...we have 5 or 6 months before they come back, don't we?  *Sigh*  winky

I'm feelin' it! See ya next year Autumn... loved this, and the special effects now and then on the side.

That is very kind of you George - thank you so much!  I give you a lot of credit.  I would be afraid to even touch an historical, collector dulcimer let alone actually play one!  It's hard to tell from the vid but there is a large white wear mark by my lower sound hole.  I tend to play kind of, well...enthusiastically, I guess.  Lol!

Makes me even more stoked I sent it in for the extra frets. I thought so when I saw it.

Yeah, a lot, I actually play them all, (just not all at the same time) A fair amount of more historical, collector dulcimers. Your music is inspirational..

25 Dulcimers???  Wow!!!  I want to come over to your house for a playdate!  dulcimer   I have just six dulcimers.  The one I am using in the video is a McSpadden, George.

Was also curious, who is the builder of your dulcimer?

Estes George

Well actually, out of the current 25, 6 of them are 6 string, and the old Bill Davis is a 5 string. Just that none of the 6 strings had the extra frets, seems like you mostly find those on 4 string dulcimers and still not common. So I decided I just had to have at least one 6 string with those added.

My first experience with 6 strings was finding a used Dan Doty 6 string on Ebay, then picked up 2 more from him, one a custom built that I believe there is photos of somewhere on my profile page, the one with the butterfly sound holes, But I wasn't aware of the extra frets at that time or I would have had them added.

I also recently went over to Nederland Colorado, an hour from where I live and had Bonnie Carol add the extra frets to the 4 string I got from her some years back.

But really, playing the 6 strings are my favorite, while some folks find them hard to play, I seem to have no issue and can play it as easily as any 4 or 3 string.

I also have the really large June Apple 6 string 28 1/2 VSL, and am wanting to have the extra frets added to that one also.

I really appreciate you listening, George!  Thank you.  Yay on having the extra frets added to your 6!  Do your other dulcimers have them or will this be your first?  You know, anymore I cannot play a dulcimer that does not have them.  I get all tangled up.  Go figure!  eyeroll

You are very kind, Terry.  blush   I am so happy that you enjoyed it!  Thank you.

Besides the great tune, I really like that you're playing a 6 string dulcimer, with the 1 1/2, 6 1/2 8 1/2 frets. I just sent my McSpadden 6 string back to the Dulcimer Shoppe to have the 1 1/2 and 8 1/2 added. Always been a big fan of the 6 !!

 Beautiful song!

Thank you Noah.  I sure am sorry about the drought.  The wild fires have been on the news up here quite a bit lately.  The destruction is truly mind boggling - and beyond sad.  I will keep you in my thoughts.  Stay safe, my friend.

Wow Salt-Springs!  You sure do have very intelligent "thieves" in your neck of the woods!  That's a little too much excitement for me.  I think I'll stay up here in the cold.  At least our bears generally sleep through it.  sleepy

This is wonderful. There has been a drought all year in Tennessee and the surrounding area. The trees have undergone a lot of stress and wildfires are frequent. So this fall hasn't been as nice as past ones.

Yup, everything is good down here.....I did have  problem with a thief opening my van and cars in in the middle of the night and rummaging through everything.........last night  the hound and I caught the character red handed.......185 lb bear........critter walks up to the door and grabs the door handle and carefully pulls it out and climbs in.......checks everything out and if he/she can find anything he wants, off he goes with it........tracked him/her? this morning and found some of the bread that I thought I left at the grocery........little critter has a picnic area with stuff from all over.......I set a few cameras tonight and hope to catch a pic of him/her sneaking around.  It appears that Thomas English muffins, cornbread style and Jewish Rye are favorites.  A nice end to a blah week.......bear

I'm really happy that you liked it, Maria - thank you!  My leaves up north are about done but not at home downstate.  We're probably about halfway.  At least we get a lot of exercise this time of year, right?  Lol!  I used iMovie on my laptop to do the split screen and pic-in-pic.  I'm not sure if the IOS version has those features or not.  While I shoot the vids on the iPad, I don't edit on it.  My original plan was to do it all split screen, BUT...when I played it back in full screen, darned if I didn't experience a bit of vertigo.  Go figure!  Hence the smaller pic-in-pic.  (Yet, note that I left the one with my dog as split.  She's worth a little dizziness to me.  winky )  Thank you for the invite to share!  Actually, I have another vid that I plan on posting with you next week, if that's alright?  But please feel free if you would like to share this one as well!  Thanks, Maria!!!
