I really appreciate that, Blondie - thank you! The Dulciborn is by Gold Tone. They are in Florida. It's kinda of a hybrid instrument. Mountain dulcimer fretboard on the body of a Weissenborn style hollow neck Hawaiian guitar. I like using it for the wild and crazy stuff sometimes. Lol!
Well, you always have to be very careful when there a bears around.
BTW, Allam Sherman's rendition is found on "Schticks and Stones Medley" at the about the 4:30 minute mark.......you tube has it and 12 others that all classically trained folk singers, dulcimer players should keep to themselves...........and yes, His Camp Grenada tune wrecked camp for hundreds.
You always make me laugh, Salt-Springs! My guess would be your bears down there. But I cannot imagine why they feel the need to slip into your pants before the raid. Disguise, maybe? Yes, I remember that song (the first version, I mean). It ruined camp for me forever after!
Christine......I strongly recommend that short'n bread be prepared ahead of time and kept frozen for emergency rations. Though in my case this is not necessary since I usually have sufficient fat pills available. Case in point I usually buy a half a pallet of assorted gourmet junk food to keep on hand to deliver to food pantries not to mention pies, cakes and donuts, candy bars, peanuts, cashews, chips and Twizzlers.
What is problematic however is the tendency for someone to sneak around in the middle of the night and raid that stash and leave the evidence of such knavishness in my pants pockets. Sleep walking? Burglers, ghouls, who knows!
Do you remember Allan Sherman (Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah) from the 1960's? He did a version of this tune called, Mama's little Baby loves Matzoh Balls.
Hi Salt-Springs! The truth of the matter is that I had been at it for quite awhile and was getting tired, my fingers were sore, and most of all...I was hungry. So the lyrics to "Walking In My Sleep" popped into my mind - pain in my finger(s), pain in my toe(s) ...then goes on about making biscuits. Yum! Hmm. Thinking that this would be way too many carbs so late at night, if I just put on the skillet, put on the lid , maybe I could make a little shortening bread! Well, I realized that wouldn't be any better carb-wise, so... I put away the dulcimer, set aside the pick, looked in the pantry, and a can of soup is what I did. *Sigh*
I am really glad you understand the fun thing, Benjamin! It looks like Cindy does too. Yay - lol! It makes me happy to share the fun stuff with you all. Thank you so much for watching!
I appreciate the first part of your comment, Steven. The last part, not so much. (just kidding, actually I thought it was funny! ) Okay, I'm back to work...for now.
Oh yeah! What a great surprise to see and hear you do "Shortening Bread", which has to be one of the all time classic theme songs of pie and cookie lovers everywhere.
That sounds so good! You seem to have found a way of mixing the guitar and the dulcimer without compromising the unique nature of both instruments...
Aww...thank you very much, Dusty!
Soundin' good, Christine!
