The traditional Scottish tune on a 3-string mountain dulcimer made of cherry and redwood by Terry McCafferty in a 1-5-8 tuning tuned to C#. (I think I need some squeakless strings.)
Zen Patty: very nice Dusty do you play by ear or is there tableture for this song?
Thanks, @Zen-Patty. I mostly play by ear, but I do arrange tablature to share with students and those who join my monthly dulcimer club. I have tab for this arrangement. Send me a Private Message with your email and I'll send it to you.
Thanks for your encouragement, @Davisjames. I usually don't mind the squeak of fingers sliding on strings; it's a reminder of the tactile activity of playing. I actually enjoy hearing the valves move on old jazz sax solos as well. But in this case, the squeaking seem a bit louder than I would like.
You are probably the only one who notices the string squeaks.I have a Tom Yockie chromatic, the previous owner bought a flat wound guitar "D"string for it.Easy for sliding up and down and noiseless.. too smooth.I like the dirt.Lovely tune and playing.
