It's very nice of Geoff to thank me for introducing these tunes to people, but the person whom we should really all thank is my friend Geoff Woolfe. He and I (along with 9 other people, including my lovely wife Angela) play in a group called the Hotwells Howlers. In 2007 Geoff (who plays mainly melodeon) published 'William Winter's Quantocks Tune Book' - the first ever publication of about 350 tunes out of the 450 or so which this shoemaker and fiddler from the south-west of England wrote out in his manuscript tune book in around 1850. Geoff had spent much of the previous 2 or 3 years researching and editing the ms. His book was published in conjunction with Halsway Manor, the residential folk center in whose library the ms. has resided for the last 50 years.

very pretty...so relaxing.
Thanks all...but thank John Shaw mostly for having introduced us all in the UK to this goldmine of great tunes.
Mark: It's tuned DGD in both of these pieces. The first using the middle string primarily, the second the melody string but with full (and interesting) chords. Love the Waltz!

I enjoyed both tunes, Geoff!
Another couple of nicely played tunes Geoff. Thx. The first part of the first tune is similar to a tune we play around here called Puncheon Floor. Nice to know where the tune came from! These folks from Virginia play it how we do.

Very very nice, Geoff! (Of course I'm biased, because I love to hear those tunes being played.)
Thanks for sharing Goeff, enjoyed your playing. :)
