"I Never Will Marry" is an old English or Irish folk song about a love forsaken girl who casts herself to her death in the ocean after she has been jilted by her sweetheart. A rather morbid subject but a pretty melody. This is my version played on my six string baritone mountain dulcimer.
Another pretty tune with disturbing lyrics. Nice job, Gordon!
Thank you for your kindness, Dusty.

Maybe it was just infatuation.

I like this song....one of my favorites...and you play and sing it in a very nice way! But, Gordon, something has always puzzled me about this song....if the guy who wrote it could hear every word the gal said, WHY didn't he jump in and save her??!!!
Good point Steven, one which I've often pondered myself. Maybe it's something as simple as he couldn't swim or maybe a little more complex, he possibly didn't want to relate to a girl who wasn't prepared to dust herself off and try again. In either case I think we're dealing with a guy who was distancing. Just sayin' is all.
