Farewell To Whisky

musician/member name: Entertainment
Duration: 00:04:37
description:
This tune was composed by renowned Scottish fiddler-composer Niel Gow (1727-1807) who identified it as a lament on the occasion of the British government's prohibition of using barley to make whiskey in 1799, due to the failure of the crop in Scotland in that year

Nicely done, Gordon.  Until I heard you sing it, I did not realize there were lyrics to it since I've only heard it played as an instrumental.  Though I imagine the crop failure of barley in 1799 was quite a disaster for some, I am not a fan of the taste of the whiskeys I have tried.  (I could only use it as a medicinal for a bad cough or some such malady.)

Ah Robin, a well aged single malt whisky from the highlands of Scotland could be construed as the “water of life”. 😉
