Wartz 'n' All Spring Gathering

Wartz 'n' All Spring Gathering

Saturday March 25 2017, 10:00 AM
@ Tygart Lake State Park Grafton WV
Attendees:  @Jim Fawcett@Frank Ross@Ken Longfield@Scott Allen@Linda Boies@Darlene Fox@Rob N Lackey@Bob Snyder@Kathyb53@TLKelly

It's that time of year again. Wartz n' All Spring Gathering is just around the corner and everyone is invited. There has been a change in the way that lunch goes. We now can bring our own food for a pot luck lunch. So please bring something to share with everyone. Bring your favorite chair for jamming, any stringed instrument you play, and be ready to sit and jam all day long. Of course laughter is a given. Come and have a good time with some old friends and make new one's too. Here are the directions link to Tygart.  http://www.tygartlake.com/location.htm

It was great to finally meet you also Ken. Enjoyed talking with you and also liked your history presentation and scheitholt builds. I plan on attending Lancaster and hope to see you there!

Linda and Scott, it was a pleasure to meet you. Sorry we didn't have more time just to visit. Hope see you down the road. I'm not sure yet if I'll show up in Lancaster. I think one or both of you mentioned going there in July.

Good to meet you too, Ken.  I'm sure we will meet up again.  I am planning on trying to do the Lancaster one in July.  Hopefully will be back at Wartz for the fall.

They were pretty tasty, weren't they, Scott? Wonder if Frank hat to poke the road kill to see if it was dead or not?

Just wanted to thank Jim, Kevin, and Rob for another great event! It was great seeing and playing with everyone and looking forward to more BBQ'd Mammal and good times at the next one!

Thanks so much Jim and others who organized this event. The location was perfect. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. The newbie class was great, with some beautiful new tunes. Really enjoyed it!

Yay!!   I'm looking forward to seeing a few pictures - post them either on your profile pages, or in a forum thread... so we all can enjoy them for a long time to come!
(if you post them here on this Event page, events that are 'past' for several days automatically drop out of sight from the Events calendar, just so you know)

I'm sure FOTMD friend Oliver Ogden was sorely missed.  But so GREAT that there were several new folks attending!  Keepin' the joyful spirit of good music friends going strong...  pimento jive

Another great Wartz and All. Lots of good music, friends and food. Nice to see some new faces as well as old ones.

Well, Spring Wartz is now over.  It was one of the best we've had.  Several folks were with us for the first time and one who hasn't been for a long time.  We had the lodge to ourselves so Jim & Frank took the beginners down to the lobby with its couches and chairs and they seemed to have a good time learning new material. Our fiddlers, Bob & Brian, were in good form and we had both banjo and hammered dulcimer as well this time.  Come join us in the Fall.  Don't know where yet, but in north central West Virginia in October.  It will be a good time.

Sorry you won't be able to make it this time, Barb. Fall Wartz is something to shoot for.

Hi Friends! Thanks for the invite to Wartz. Sorry I won't be able to come, I have a standing invitation with a friend to go to the Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival every year and darned if it isn't the same weekend! I will miss you all and hope to touch base at some of the West Virginia festivals this summer and at fall Warz.

Have a great time (I know you will!)

We aim to please, ma'am.

Planning to be there! Made reservation. Thanks for making a newbie feel welcome.

Kathy, we will have a beginner's class that's for sure. There is no set time for it. There will be another program on dulcimer history. So it will be sometime during the day. Clear as mud, right? Please don't let this keep you from coming. It's just that we shoot from the hip.

03/19/17 09:15:30AM @kathyb53:

I think I saw somewhere that there is a class for beginners. Or maybe I saw a video of beginners then playing together. Anyway, is there a schedule of events or classes?

Me again. nod I am not familiar with this town. Coming from out of town on Friday. Any ideas on places I could buy something to share for the pot luck? I've looked online, but not able to get an idea. Looks like it might be a much smaller town than what I am used to. Thanks!!

Frank, yes, there are steps to go up to the rooms but the elevator can be used. I didn't think the steps were too bad. I'll miss you guys but I just don't want to take a chance on the snow. Sounds like that snow stuff has found me. We are expected to get some Monday night into Tuesday. I'm not liking that. I was ready for Spring!!! I'll be with you guys in spirit. Play some Sourwood Mountain for me. dulcimer

Frank Ross

There is an elevator to the second floor. The parking lot is right out front of the building - I don't remember if there were any steps - if there were there weren't many.

Can  anyone can tell me if  it  easy to get to the lodge and getting to the second floor for people that have a hard time walking?
