Mark Gilston plays an old traditional Russian folk song melody on mountain dulcimer. The basic story is a young girl is sent to live with another family (presumably as a bride in an arranged marriage) and is vilified by the members of the family. In one version she is called a bear by the father, a snake by the mother, a slob by the in-law siblings, but she has retorts for all of them. There are similarly themed songs throughout Eastern Europe.
