Thanks Paul - I was copying the style of Nettie Presnell. She would play with a wood strummer and used C,c,c tuning, arranging all her favourite tunes, both major and minor, to fit the mixolidian scale and strumming pattern she liked to use. Ralf Lee Smith though that she was one of the best of the Appalachian players, as she epitomised the unique timbre of the region's music.
