mountain dulcimer drones tuned to D (wound bass with doubled drones tuned an octave higher) with the melody string tuned to A
In memory of the dogs who've enriched our lives through the years and in honor of the one in the house now, Billy Boy.
Hey, @jamie-davis , we're using a Zoom H6 for the audio recordings. Lately, I've been using the mastering on SoundCloud and then downloading the mastered version. (I want the mastering primarily to set volume so there's a better chance of volume consistency from tune to tune on SoundCloud.) Dog Years, though, isn't one of the mastered tunes.
As always, folks, for listening and for taking the time to comment!
Hey guys.Love the freedom of recording the way you do.To my ears the immediacy of digital recording makes up for the degeneration of sound(that's just my analog-trained ears I suppose,a generational thing). No fussing with mics,separation,etc...bit like going back to the early bluegrass days...step forward or play louder to solo.I find it like going fishing:sometimes you catch something, sometimes not.I use a zoom h4n,4 tracks possible, internal mics. When ambitious and energetic I use a zoomr8(8 tracks) and a high quality studio mic through a tube preamp(takes more prep). As well as that,I've heard great stuff recorded by people on their cell phones.Anyhow,I enjoy your music a lot.
There is no mixing-- we just record with a Zoom H6. Typically, I sit with the dulcimer very near the recorder and Mark sits 2'-3' away and doesn't point the guitar sound hole toward the recorder. Mostly, this low-tech way works for what we do.

Great tune! How did you mix this?
Hey, @dan, Spot was in the family with Puff, Dick, Jane, and Sally!
Thanks for listening to our little tune!
Spot on!
@kevin-r Many thanks, Kevin, for listening and for the kind comment. Happy strumming!
