Moon and Clouds

musician/member name: Music
Duration: 00:02:38
description:
Original tune for mountain dulcimer and acoustic guitar.
The wound bass on the dulcimer is tuned to B and the doubled drones are tuned to the same note an octave higher; the melody string is tuned to A. The mountain dulcimer is a Jean Ritchie model Blue Lion with a 6.5 and a 13.5 fret added.
The guitar is an Alvarez classical in standard tuning, capo at fret 2.

Thanks, fellas!  We're happy y'all liked the tune, @dan and @dusty!

When one of our nieces heard the audio version of the tune some days ago-- Mark's playing a steel string acoustic guitar in that version--- she said it made her think of a castle.  For videos, it is hard for us to keep our recording set-up simple and achieve decent sound balance.  His playing a classical guitar really helped us balance the sound better.  And I'd wondered whether the classical would call to mind the sound of a lute and am glad when I suggested the guitar player change instruments he was up for doing it.

Such sensitive playing!  Beautiful tune.  Parts of it have a medieval feel.
