The dulcimer in the middle was made for me almost exactly a year ago by John Knopf. It is patterned after the E5 dulcimer in L. Allen Smith’s book that was made by James Edward Thomas 22 June 1915. Not sure about the original, but mine is walnut.
When I play at home this is my dulcimer of choice. Playing with a noter gives it a nice old-time sound, I really enjoy hearing the drone emphasized. Though I am very comfortable playing tuned to DAA or CGG Dulcimore Cox has gotten me interested in venturing out and playing other tunings.
Strumelia: ...I love those Mercer museum ones Ben makes (though I've never played one). Won't you post a video with it sometime?
I like playing my Mercer Museum reproduction Scheitholt but haven't made any videos yet. However, before Ben shipped it to me last year he made a video and he plays much better than I do anyway...
Oh! Are you the one who bought Greg's Mercer Museum repro scheitholt? Or did you order one from Ben as well (i'm assuming that's a Kudzupatch scheitholt)? I have often now regretted not 'pulling the trigger' on Greg's when he was selling it. You lucky dog! I'm happy it found a great home.

So David, tell us about your dulcimer there in the middle please...

How great! I love those Mercer museum ones Ben makes (though I've never played one). Won't you post a video with it sometime?
No, I hesitated too long. I ended up having Ben Seymour build me one. I really enjoy playing and listening to it.
