Mark Gilston plays a well known Italian Christmas carol on mountain dulcimer. This carol is also known by it's first line "Quanno Nascetti Ninno" (When the Child Was Born). It is attributed to Alfonso Maria de' Liguori (1696-1787), a bishop from Solerno who wrote in a local dialect. The song was later translated into Neopolitan and became the source for "Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle" with slight tune modifications.
