My grandson Dylan will be 12 on Saturday. My surprise for him was to spend the afternoon at Fernwood Botanical Gardens. We both love that place! His surprise for me (he didn't know it until we got there) was to play music with me. It was such a beautiful day!

Hi Cindy, I am closeby in Mishawaka. I too am very fond of Fernwood and have spent many a day there hiking and geocaching. It's really a special place. Nothing holds a candle to time with your grandson though. I just discovered the dulcimer and have only had mine about two weeks but my goal is to be abe to play and sing along with my grandchildren. Life doesn't get better than that. Thanks for sharing your video!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Dylan loves this place and so do I! We spent the first part of our outing playing music, then put the instruments in the car, grabbed the cameras and hiked the rest of the afternoon! It does NOT get any better than this! Music and nature, sunshine and autumn colors!

The day at Fernwood was a really special one....some one on one time, such a beautiful place, and to record some music. You are so right.....It just doesn't get much better than that!!! Thank you soooo much for the kind and wonderful words everyone!!! I believe Dylan had almost as much fun as I did (if that's possible)! There is a place in my heart reserved for these special memories - and it is overflowing right now Grandchildren are so special, and to be able tomake these kind of memories.....

I loved it! Nicely done Dylan and Grandma It was great seeing a young person playing the dulcimer. At times, when watching the videos, I feel the only ones playing the instrument are of the "mature set".
