I play this 18th-century Scottish air on mountain dulcimer made of quilted maple by Bill Taylor and tuned a half step below the standard DAd. I learned this song from a William Coulter recording on Gourd Music entitled Jefferson's Fiddle. The song should be in an AABB format, but since I play it three times (up an octave the second time through), I thought it would be too repetitive and just play each part once.
Thanks, Jan. I tend to use more hammer-ons and pull-offs in my old age.
Lovely dulcimer and lovely playing, Dusty! Very fancy fingerplaying there!
Thanks, BJ. I haven't had this dulcimer all that long but I'm really enjoying it. And it took me a long time to be able to play this tune in the second octave without making tons of mistakes. I was so glad to finally get this recorded.
Beautiful dulcimer by Bill Taylor. Love this tune and so well played. Thank you for sharing it with us.
