Description Unclouded Day on my new Galax built by Don Neuhauser. Trying to learn this new thing - never been a noter player before, so it's a whole new experience.
Gail this is fantastic- you have the technique down right- with time the speed will come, but it's lovely sounding exactly the way you played it here too. What a beautiful dulcimer! You are truly doing it justice.
Thanks Mary. This is my new Galax dulcimer made for me by Don Neuhauser. I met him at Kentucky Music Week this year and he agreed to make one for me. He sent me a nice supply of quills to use with it. I've never been a noter player, so this has been a whole new experience for me. I really like it!
Thanks to everyone for your nice comments. I can see by watching this video that I need to use a little more wrist action and less arm action with the strumming. I can get more sound using a noter, but really like the old time sound of the quill. Don sent me quite a few with my dulcimer.
What a great sound Gail. I love that you use the quill. I haven't been able to master using a noter, I find that I'm far more comfortable using my index finger. You play very well. Thank you.
Thank you Lisa. I'm enjoying noter playing so much on the Galax that I'm having Kevin Messenger build me a Prichard repro.

Very nice rendition of an old classic!
Awesome work with your quill.
Gail, that was really nice. Too short though, I wish you would have played it through at least one more time.
That's some fine traditional noter drone playing there, Gail. Just a play on words, it is nice to know the sun is shining in Galax, VA.
Gail, wonderful job! Don't sell yourself short now

Really nice Gail, you are using the noter great and this is you new Galax, very fine.
That sounds really nice Gail
I hear the makings of another National Champion!!! Don makes a wonderful Galax.
Spendid, Gail! You sound like you've been using a noter since the day you were born!
Nice job! You're a natural with that noter.
