Indeed, Gordon, this does have some sweetness.  Nicely played and sung!  Those of us who are aging along with a beloved or have already lost a beloved understand some of the sentiments which may have been behind the song.  (Also, at the time the song was written, life expectancy wasn't what we know today.)
