I was Aeolian tuning to play When I was in My Prime, so I thought I'd tack on Buain na Rainich. I recorded a version of Buain na Rainich in Mixolidian tuning several months prior which you can find on my You Tube page. it's kind of fun to hear the difference in the way the tune works in each tuning.
Thank you so much Gail, Cythia and Diane! Diane, those aren't my arrangements so I can't really share, I don't think those particular arrangements are in a book either. You might be able to find something similar on Everything Dulcimer.
That was beautiful, Guy. I love the sound of Aeolian tuning.
Just love this, and there's much technique to be gleaned from watching either hand. Sounds so simple, yet so difficult to play and make sound simple.
Aw thank you, Helen. That's very kind!
Thank you so much Folkfan!!
Such an elegant feel to these tunes. I think stately and dignified also work well to describe the music and your playing. Lovely
Thank you so much, BJ! That's very kind of you to say.
Absolutely beautiful Guy! Sounds like I should be in the King's court. Thanks for sharing this and what a great job you do.
Thank you so much Dusty Turtle! There is a little reverb on my recording, but the sustain is really because of the Dulcimer. It's an Aeolus... they are known for their sustain... such gorgeous instruments... they are really my very favorite dulcimers I have ever played.
That' s beautiful playing, Guy. You have real Renaissance sound. If I were just listening and didn't know any better, I would assume you were playing the lute. You achieve remarkable sustain; are you using some kind of electronic effect?
