I enjoyed this, Mark!  This was one of the first songs I heard sung and played on the dulcimer...Berea, Kentucky, 1991.  I sang a version of this once in a concert--a "version" because I made up all the words I forgot.

Thanks Jan,  It's one of those songs that probably lends itself well to improvising verses (:
