Excellent! I don't think I had ever heard "South Wind" (at least to know what it was) until one of the guys in the classical guitar ensemble in which I play was doing it. After hearing it several times on Youtube, I believe the version he plays is one of the most horrific arrangements of a Celtic song I've ever heard, yet 2 others in the group think it's great. Your arrangement, however, is like the wind dancing in the treetops. Keep it up!
Very pretty. About a year ago I developed a version of this song that I did witha flatpick, but now that I'm more into fingerpicking, I may mimic you and give it a try without that piece of plastic between my fingers and the strings.
Just got home from a crazy day at work to read all your nice comments. Thanks everyone! You are all so encouraging and I greatly appreciate it. I don't think I've ever had so much fun with an instrument or such nice people to share it with!
Thanks Carrie and Karen! I'm so lucky as I signed up for the fingerpicking elective with Janita Baker at Dulcimer U in July! I'm looking forward to actual instruction in fingerpicking and learning some creative ways to work out tunes.
Nice playing. I like to hear Southwind finger picked, it seems to emphasize a different nature of the tune than strumming
Paul.
this is BEAUTIFUL !
Cheryl, sounds like a period piece done in classic period style. Very very pretty. The wonderful smile at the end didn't hurt either
Goschi and Rob...thank you so much. Rob....I think that's the nicest compliment Ive ever had....thank you.
