An original written for my friend down under, Helen S. We were talking about getting together to play some tunes but neither one of us is a big fan of flying. Helen suggested that we take something for our nerves, get on a plane and meet halfway in Tahiti. Sounds good to me! (I'm playing a Gold Tone Dulciborn tuned C-g-cc)
Salt-Springs? You made my day! Thanks so much for watching the video and taking the time to leave me such a wonderful comment. I sure do appreciate it!
OH, yeah! You make me crazy every time I hear you play...........absolutely amazing...............Bravo!
Thanks so much Ken, Mary, and Marg! So I can count on you to attend the meeting in Tahiti? Can't wait!!!
Fun times, great group, always beautiful Christine.
Well, Chris, what can I say.. You and Helen could do some nice stuff together. I am a big fan of both you great gals. If you two meet up in a warm island somewhere, let me know. I'll grab a banjo or an autoharp and meet you there.
Helen, you always make me smile! You know what? I'm not surprised in the least that you've already begun to figure it out! I think I'm going to find a poster of Tahiti and put up in my music room - eye on the prize, right?
Terry...you truly walk the walk. Thank you for being you. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Awww.....back at you Christine. You are very kind. Your words placed a lump in my throat.
Christine, Helen, and to all: Psalms 19:14 reads: "Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable unto You, my God, my Strength, my Redeemer." This has been a very important scripture implanted in my heart for many years.
However, as times have changed, facebook, internet forums, cell phones, I've created this to repeat daily: "Oh God, let the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, and the words that I write, be acceptable unto you, and uplifting others to happiness, hope, and inspiration."
Awww....to you again.
Once again, Merry Christmas to all.............may 2016 be our best year yet. And may Helen make it to Tahiti.
Thank you Joy! Does this mean we can count you in for Tahiti? This would be me on the flight: This would be Helen: and with you being the fearless flyer, you might look something like this if you sat near us: Haha!
Yay!!! I'm so glad you liked it Helen! And thank you very much for the too kind compliment. Okay, I will start saving my pennies now so the "Blues Buddies" can rock the house in person! Merry Christmas Helen!
Thank you John and Gordon! I really appreciate your support!
Thank YOU for watching Benjamin! I'm very happy that you enjoyed it.
Aww...thanks so much Terry! What you should know is that this particular song, while written for Helen, was actually inspired by your words. When Helen posted her fantastic piece "Double Chin Blues" you wrote: " Helen, you are fine just like you. Be true to yourself. Christine reminds me of Buddy Holly and you Bob Dylan. Two different styles, music that had some kinship, and both huge stars. So now, you huge star you, now that you have read the word of a fellow compatriot, just do your thing. Shake it if you like, but smiles and some goofy silliness will keep the cards and letters (with checks) coming in." I thought it was so sweet of you to pay us both such an enormous compliment! That stuck with me and is reflected in this song (at least I think it is.) There are two different voices in this piece. The "verses" are Helen as Bob Dylan. Sort of a kinder, gentler groove. The chorus' are me as Buddy Holly. A little more forceful groove. So that is how I view this song. A musical conversation between Helen and I as our alter egos that you so generously bestowed upon us. Of course, this could all just be a songwriter's delusion on my part, but now you know what was going through my mind at that time. Terry? Thank you for giving me and Helen this song!
Very well done Christine. You are the sole owner of your style. Only in my wildest dreams could I play like that.
Merry Christmas!!!
Go Chris!
Ah Christine, what a lovely dedication for Helen and what a fun sounding song. Thank you for this.
Very nice. I really enjoyed this. Thanks Christine for writing and performing it.
What a fun idea, expressed through a fun song! I'm more afraid of putting my dulcimer on a plane than getting on one myself, but wouldn't it be cool to set up "meet and plays" around the country (or cross countries) with our online dulcimer friends? Thanks for sharing, Christine.
