I can certainly understand that, Ben. I am glad you were able to get a couple of shots! Exciting, isn't it? A few years back I was in the boat and the Loons were in a very playful mood. They were swimming back and forth under the boat then surfacing and calling right next to me. I took a zillion pics but it was a new camera and I had the settings wrong. I didn't get one good shot. Bummer! But still, quite an exhilarating experience!
Christine, I can understand about the loons. Here in Maine I generally have to have a long lens on my camera (300mm) and there are often times that is not long enough. I did get fortunate one day a year to two ago while waiting for a boat pick up from across the lake. At the end of the wharf (maybe 20 feet) a loon approached and I had my camera and the long lens out in a jiffy. I couldn't hardly believe my luck. Still, only got one or two really decent shots.
I really appreciate that, Robin - thank you. Yes, the remaining Loon...the harrowing rescue...the sad outcome. All of it left a deep imprint on my heart. But nature's cycle has begun anew and the parents have returned. The nest has been built. Hopefully the baby (or babies, if we're lucky!) will be strong and healthy this year.
Thanks so much, Benjamin! Yes, I took the vids over the course of the season. Those and a lot more! The Loons generally do not come close enough to get a decent shot so I feel pretty fortunate to have captured the Daddy's spectacular display. He sure took me by surprise, and to be honest, scared me more than a little!
Thank you, Mandy - I greatly appreciate that!
Hey Chris, the way you put this together is just amazing. Great stuff!
Thank you, Charles. I really enjoy playing the dulciborn.
Christine, I love the sound of your dulciborn!

This is truly a remarkable, Christine. Contemplative, interesting, melodic, soulful. A real work of art. Bravo!
