Thanks a lot Robert, I too have loved this song for many many years. I did a sketch of you - first your left side then the dulcimer, which I apparently got excited by and made too large, so your right arm ended up way distorted out there, but I still like it. Maybe I'll have the nerve to send it to you one day.

A very haunting and beautiful song. My favorite version although there are many is Anne Briggs from 1963. Before I heard Fairport's 1969 version, I was taken by this beautiful melody on a TV commercial. Do you remember a sun tan lotion commercial jingle " Bain de Soleil for the San Tropez tan".  Its melody is the A part of She moved through the fair... I love playing it in DDD tuning. Really nice on whistle too. Thanks Cynthia for reviving my memory of this song... Robert

Thanks for posting Cynthia and well done. This is a favourite tune of mine I have often tried to play on guitar tuned in dadgad. I have not come across it played on MD before so thanks again. I have only just started to play MD but I hope to have a try at this tune once my fingers start to cooperate. The smile at the end is just great.
