If I'm correct in the hunt for "old" Jacob, he was about 16 when this was built! The piece has significant tool marks though out, there was a goodly amount of ability in the sound box as well as the peg head. It has fiddle edges that have stayed together for 147 years?
It intrigues me how these old fellers spent so much time and effort on crafting the pegheads, and seemed to just throw the rest of the dulcimer together, willy-nilly.
