This is on a 36 inch VSL Bass piece I have tuned to GDD Ionian. 200 year old salvaged Poplar from a warehouse in Louisville, Kentucky. The peg head, staple board and tail piece are Black Walnut.

I want to see and play this big boy.   what a marvel!!!  Did you use the same fret wire you usually use for your dulcimers of regular size?   VERY VERY COOL.   Were there BIG BASS DULCIMERS "back in the day?"  Or you were "just in the mood" to try and make this big Boy.   Surely you've given him a name....or her?   I want to know more of the story....aloha, irene

I'll bring it to Berea for you guys to see. I don't believe there were any Dulcimore this big back in the day but as soon as I say that some one will give evidence of one!!! After making the 9 foot Master Mawhee I wanted to experiment with "larger" pieces and this is what I came up with. I think it is a qwerk, I'm not in love with the tonal qualities, I still prefer the high silvery sound.....

I just refer to it as the "bass"
