The last Saturday of August is Play Music On The Porch Day - a day founded on the premise "What if for one day everything stopped…and we all just listened to the music?"

Thanks so much to Robin Thompson for introducing this wonderful day to me!

Very good on the ordering. Please let us know when you set up the link to order.
Bought a house in Tenino up on the hill on blumauer. Love it here
Wow! What are the odds?! I sent you a private message with a link to our dulcimer circle.
Yup. Lived in riverbend. Bought a house in Tenino up on the hill on blumauer. Love it here
Enjoying the wonderful no rain day inTenino.
So northbendbob must be Bob from North Bend at the foot of Snoqualmie Pass?! Good to meet you Bob! And thanks for your encouragement! PM me maybe we can meet up?
Elvensong, I'm sorry I missed this back in August, but I'm glad I found it now. The dulcimer sounds especially warm, and your relaxed style of strumming just fits the tune so well. Nice job!
I'm also interested in that DulciMozy, so keep us updated.
Thanks Dusty! I will post an announcement here and on Everything Dulcimer FB when I get the order page setup. I'll set up an order page and once we hit 25 - I'll send off the order and request payment then.
This really is an amazing find - it is effortless to play standing up without changing your style and it is very light weight.

That is just beautiful. So is your yard :-) and I love that thing you have so you can actually play the darn thing standing up. Really really sweet playing

...So how would I inquire about purchasing?
I think you just did.
I had this made for me by an acrylic manufacturer. It's really pricey as a one off but if I can get orders for 25 or more they are about $75 plus shipping.
I intend to launch a webpage to gather orders in the near future.
Well Done! Lovely song. I am interested in the fixture you are using to stand and play. So how would I inquire about purchasing?
Thank you for the video,
Bill
...I'm wondering how you are playing standing up?
Hi Linda thanks very much. I'm using a kind of "shelf" I had made in acrylic. You can just see the edge in the front with black felt on it. I have it belted to my waist. Then I use my dulcimer strap as normal to keep it in place. It's incredibly light and you can even walk and play at the same time. My daughter calls it the DulciMozy.
It was expensive to make a one-off like this but they told me they could get the cost down with lots of 25 or more.
I got so many inquiries at Winfield I decided to make a page for it so people can send me orders and I can get that huge volume discount.
I'll be posting it here as well.
Great playing !! Your dulcimer has a very rich & pleasant tone.
Is that a purple heart fretboard?
Hey thanks @marc-mathieu! Yes it's a purpleheart fretboard.
This beautiful instrument was built by @jack-ferguson from Appalachian Flutes and Dulcimers. He recently built my first scheitholt and I'm having a blast playing it!
Great tune and great playing Dean. I'm very impressed by the lush growth in your yard.
Thanks Gordy!
Indeed there is one advantage to the rainy Pacific Northwest: we have lush vegetation. We get some great fall colors as well and in the winter when the leaves drop we have a great view of a 10-15 acre beaver pond about 100 yards from the house.
Great tune and great playing Dean. I'm very impressed by the lush growth in your yard.
Thanks @jack-ferguson, @ariane, @ron-zuckerman, @robin-thompson
It is such a treat to share music and to have made so many friends so quickly here on FOTMD.
Wow, Dean! EVERYTHING is matching: excellent playing, great sound, perfect scenery...(and I like your beautifully colored shirt )
Thanks Dean! Sounds great, and I love the tune!
Realized I didn't give the title of the song, doh!
It's my good fortune you learned of this day-- what a lovely tune, Dean!
