The Rose Of Arranmore

musician/member name: Entertainment
Duration: 00:04:09
description:
Here is my rendition of this traditional Irish folk song. My research indicates that this song was first recorded in the United States in 1940 by the McNulty Family on the Decca label.
Arranmore is an island located off the west coast of County Donegal in Ireland. An interesting side note: Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan was the American landing place of a number of Irish families who were evicted from Arranmore in the mid 1800's.

Gordon, Loved it!! You've inspired me to get out my six string baritone and play!

Thanks Charles, I bet with your gift of composition, you can really make your six string sing!

Anyone who doesn't love that mug of yours just plain doesn't have a sense of humour - I can just see you breaking into a big Buddha smile. Thanks for a beautiful rendition of a song I never heard before. and someone headslap Terry for trying to get your instrument away from you - ducking Terry! I'm ducking.

Mirrors are proof to me that the Almighty has a grand sense of humor. Thanks Cynthia for listening and for your kindness.

Hey Terry, thanks for listening, You're no slouch on the strings yourself. As for this dulcimer, it is a one of a kind, as are many dulcimers. I know that being a member of FOTMD makes you family, and I appreciate that, but I figure this one will stay with my immediate family. Take good care my friend.

Gotcha.   mrdance

Gordon, that's a lovely sounding tune.

Thanks for listening Patty. There are so many pretty sounding traditional Irish folk songs out there, but they are not all public domain, it sometimes takes some research to determine if one can play them on FOTMD. I finally found where this one had been recorded back in the day but I couldn't find a copyright so I figured I was safe.
