For the amaryllis, put a few heavyish stones around the top of the pot. I often bring back an interesting stone or two from my travels, so usually have something lying around.
Pleased about the result john, it looks good. Can we look forward to a tune or two now ? (how do you get you amerilys to stay upright, ours has got the staggers !!!
I used standard PVA wood glue, I'm not that keen on epoxy for wood unless there are gaps to be filled.
I was lucky with the break, it was a very jagged crack but didn't break off entirely, so I was able to inject the glue and clamp it back together without too much trouble.
The other advantage of PVA is that it's water soluble and the syringe is easy to clean out and reuse, you could never do that with epoxy.

Did you use glue or go for epoxy? I love that scroll shape myself. It's such a graceful curve, but you're right it is stronger cut out of 3 pieces laminated together.
