Hey, thanks everyone!!

Diane - We know the tune as "Frosty Morning" it is supposedly about the Battle of Culloden. I've heard it played slightly faster by Appalachian fiddlers. And Chris (tenor guitar) and I sometimes play it way slower as a lament - it sounds really pretty like that.

I'm sure I'm not the first noter player to "cheat" by using my little finger for some of those quick note jumps - it is certainly not patented Randy LOL!!!!!

My acent is more British now than English as I use a lot Celtic words and phrases and the northern hard "a". I was born in London but lived most of my adult life in Scotland and Wales.

BTW - we speak the language properly, unlike you colonials LOL!!!!!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL !!!

Robin

Like Randy said- it was a surprise to hear you all talking like Englishmen...lol!

Hey Robin T- you have a good point about the speakers. Do you think my experience may have had anything to do with my 5 'Surround Sound' speakers all being piled in a shoebox under my desk? Nah, couldn't possibly effect anything!

The recording came through nicely on my Philips Fidelio speakers-- could hear the dulcimer so that makes it a good recording! :)

Y'all have a good sound, Pinky-- uh, Robin C. lol

You have a nice little band there Robin! You guys are a little hard to understand....you talk like Englishmen!... : )....it's fun to hear that.

Love your technique where you pick up a note below the noter with your little finger. I had heard you mention it before but after seeing it I'd like to give it a try.....unless you've got it patented or something.... : )....

You guys are good players.

Thanks Lisa,

I was sent the YouTube link to this today by Jim Crawford who recorded it at the gig. The sound isn't great - and I've noticed that quite often with YouTube clips from gigs.I don't think that the mic's on most cameras are really up to the job. The sound out front was nicely balanced.

We had a lot of fun that night. It was the first time the two fiddlers and guitar player had played on stage so it was quite a big deal for them.

Nick (banjo) is great to play with - he just knows so many tunes and has been really encouraging at bringing us all along.

Hey Robin this is great! Really nice solid band and sound.

I wish I could hear you a little better- the mandolin sort of cancels you out I think. But I can see from watching what you are doing that you are nailing it nicely. You are developing a whole unique style all your own- I love when that happens!

The super banjo playing comes through well- I love his playing.

Must be a cultural thing, but I always think it somewhat amusing when the mando 'out-ranks' the fiddler.

So nice to see you all playing- and yay for mtn dulcimer being right there blending in well!
