Bobby, I've named the lettuce varieties HERE on my personal blog.

Hi Diane,Nope, just planted the seeds right in the ground, and no protective covers at all. They came through several frosts too. My garden is on a slight slope that gets full sun all day, so I think the ground just stays a few degrees warmer on cold Spring nights. My friend said my garden was like a 'sun shelf'. I planted seed directly at least a couple weeks before anyone else I know. A few things didn't make it through the frosts, but lots did, enough to make it well worthwhile for the price of seed....I just kept planting little rows!
