I just got this piece yesterday and was having fun with it tonight. Course it all changes when I hit record, but Greta I thought did her part to liven things up
Gail thanks. This is a great way to meet others on the site. Just listened to all your videos. I taught classical and folk guitar all my life and it was very interesting watching your progress. You've come a long way baby!, and you clearly have a skilled teacher/player watching your left hand. My favorite of yours is Black Mountain Rag, and my favorite dulcimer of yours is the Jack Ferguson, but I've been drooling over the Gingers since I first put my hands on one. You are a great inspiration to me a new player to see your steady and significant progress in a year or so. Look forward to more of your videos.
Thanks Helen and Guy. I had no idea she was moving around, but she's already spontaneously introduced herself on youtube, and seemed to be saying, "That, or something like it is what I have to listen to all day long." You'll see me play it Helen, I'm doing 2 octaves now, but need to practice it.
Thanks for watching and the nice comments. Greta figured out there were people in the "box" and joined in in another youtube video one day. She just came over and introduced herself. Colleen, try putting the camera right in front of the cat and go play on the other side of the room - my guess is we'll mostly be looking at everything BUT cat.
Love it! Your dog is hilarious. If I ever make a video, I'll have my cat in the background, assuming that he can sit still long enough. You put real feeling into your playing.
Swiping is about right. I'll have to version on something other than cardboard so you can see. I'm using a broken off wood clothespin as a droner, so I brush lightly over the strings from fret 5 or so up to the octave, coming off with the harmonic there, more or less. When I get it right, it sounds neat, but I'm not sure I got it once doing this. Thanks for watching, it's been fun chatting with you.

Fun song. How did you make the "swiping" sounds (for lack of a better description?)
Thanks for your kind comments, Cynthia. It's been a fun journey!

Nice job and I love Greta. She looks like she can't decide whether to wake up and listen or go back to her nap!

Aw!!! Greta is so sweet!! Nice playing too, Cynthia!

I like the sound of that, Cynthia. Nice job. The video makes me wonder what cats and dogs did before the invention of the couch.
My theory is that as long as the dog stays...it's goin' okay!
