This on a David Lynch maple body walnut top 3 string tuned in bagpipe tuning. Just got it today so didn't want to tune it all the way up quite yet, so it is ...
You're welcome Gail. David makes a variety of dulcimers. This one a friend had made, then his needs and wants changed, no more zither pins, wanted a 6.5 fret, so he sent it to me. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by looking for a year for the dulcimer...? I followed you so I could help you if I can.
Thank you Ben and John. Nice to see everyone's up and taking nourishment LOL. We've got 4" of snow now - this video was from a couple of years ago. Not quite that cold yet here.
Aw thanks Lisa - it's a real pretty tune, and I think it sounds so pretty up higher in bagpipe. Still camping...starting to look a lot like Christmas - roads are a real mess and we've got 3" of snow already!
Hey Cynthia, only an inch or so of snow on the prairie more on Rocky Mountain Front, the temp. dropped quite a bit tho.
I been playing my Prichard repo. in bagpipe tuning, well used this tuning with all my dulci's, but gotta try this tune in this tuning. It is a really pretty tune and I enjoy hearing you play.
Hi Lexie - just looked at your weather there in Montana, says you're expecting 8" - too much shoveling. I think you would enjoy playing in bagpipe tuning. You should take that first one you got and tune it to Ddd and have some fun. Can't remember this second, add 3 frets I think to your ionian tunes. We have no wnow yet, but tomorrow guess we'll be getting some.
TAB in Dad on ED. For galax players, and other bagpipe droners here it is:
44 579, 98 78 97
44 57 8, 7 9 98 7 repeat these 2 lines
11 12 11 11 9, 7 8 7 8 97
11 12 11 11 9, 9 8 754
repeat 1st 2 lines
For Daa players you have 2 choices, you can use this tab on the bass D string, or use the Daa tab +3 frets.
A number of people asked about this, but I did it by ear after learning the song Dad. Don't ask me to explain any of this, but it should work. Hope this makes sense to everyone. I'm glad there is so much interest, it sat for a couple of months with no one here recording it, so I thought maybe the rhythm was spooking people and decided to record it so newcomers could play it too.
Gordon thank you. I'll keep you all (and me) entertained as long as I'm on the planet. haven't heard from you lately though...do make us a new song on that big ol' deep dulcimer of yours.
Wow Cynthia, that dulcimer has a beautiful sound.....I love the bagpipe tuning....and the song is just lovely!!!! Blackberry Winter.....interesting name.....but appropriate

A beautiful and festive rendition, Cynthia.
Thank you Gail, it was a gift from a good friend on here. He is still waiting for one he ordered a while ago from David, so I hope it comes soon.
Very nice, Cynthia and I like the new dulci!

Big snow coming to my area and I love this song in this tuning, so bright and pretty.
Too cool Lynn, I'm happy, and Lexie have fun with this.
Thanks Cyn, what a fun tune to play...it sounded really nice on my Galax strummed with a feather....

Cynthia, that's a sweet tune and a different instrument again! Thank goodness for all the snow that's keeping you inside to play for our enjoyment.
Thanks for listening Cindy, I love this dulcimer with the bagpipe tuning too. I need to learn to not talk when I do these.
