This beautiful traditional Irish song is available on ED in an arrangement by Burt Kahn Dad. I'm not good enough to play it Dad, but for fun grabbed one tune...

Thanks Helen, now we can all use that same tab in Daa and actually play the darned song. It that coconut could be played honey, I'd be wailing away on it, you know it. You can buy one from Unicef for $11 I think and see if you can make it work...come to think of it, maybe we could...no that's ridiculous, and would require us to hang from the ceiling while...107.gif

Thank you so much Monica. I am a sort of instrument magnet, get handed all sorts of things when I'm playing out, and one day this was given to me. I just had to do it.Grin.gif I do have some uke videos up on youtube, a little rough around the edges but I have fun. Glad you did too.

Hello John! Thank you for such interesting info. I've read about him on Wiki today, he was a great person, and I want to read his poetry.

John thank you so much, I listened to you play Lovely Joan about 100 times, mesmerized.

I only have a Ddd one with no extra frets, sad, maybe you could talk JH into sending me one of his?77.gif

I have a treat planned on a new Hensley coming soon, I sure hope you will like it. I like simple and playable these days, for me and so others can learn them too without fighting for a year to get it.

Hi Cynthia, Love your videos, always a treat.

Do you have a dulcimer without any extra frets you can use for drone style play. That 6+ trips me up all the time.

For Volha, this is slightly off topic. The great Scottish poet, Hamish Henderson, used the title Gillie More(The Big Lads) for a song he wrote sending fraternal greetings from the Blacksmiths of Lieth to the Blacksmiths of Kiev.

Thanks, Cynthia! When I'll start play on dulcimer, I'll try to play some belarusian songs and dances. At first I should buy instrument39.gif

It's very interesting that you was learning with a Russian Conservatoru teacher. Did he give workshops in USA or he's living constantly there?

That was great Cynthia....so glad your posting all of these great tunes for us to learn...it's so much easier to learn a new tune if we can hear it first...loved it with the noter...of course it might have been nice on the coconut too...just sayin' ......

Thank you Volya, I look forward to hearing your Baltic tunes as well. I studied voice for awhile with a Russian who was head of the voice department at the Moscow Conservatory. He had us learn by singing these haunting old Russian songs. It was a wonderful thing going to visit him. You will add a new texture to this wonderful site.

Thank you Cindy. FOTMD is like a giant kaleidoscope where the beautiful colors and pattern keep swirling and changing, and sometimes one comes back we recognize as an old friend. I think we need all of these colors of us. I appreciate you so much too.

Nice tune. It worked well in the noter/drone style, too. I probably need to get out the noter more. When I hear tunes like this played well I get the notion I need to have some drones with maybe just a little discord. You done good, Cynthia.
