This tune was first published in the Playford Collections in 1651 however like a lot of Playford Tunes it undoubtedly was played long before then. Also in our SoCal Danse Macabre's repertoire.
This youTube video shows our So Cal Danse Macabre very shortly and I don't see me..
There are other videos showing Danse Macabre "Bristol", "Maryland", and "Northern California DM". Each group's members have their own explanation for why they do it and what DM means to them. Basically we are reminding people that life is short, to remember those who have gone on before, and to make their purchases early for best selection.
This is just neat Gregg! Is there somewhere we could get a list of SoCal Danse Macabre's repertoire? I really like this mood, and what a great name for a group.
Sorry, just read some things which answered questions. However, Enjoying your playing and am learning AND passing it on.
Gregg,Just learned Cock of the North. Is this old music or something you are coming up with? I love it and want to play it. Very moving.
