Thanks Janene! Lovely! I have a Ginger (spalted sycamore, like yours?) but no McSpadden standard. Still thinking about what wood I would prefer. My main standard is a Blue Lion walnut/cedar.
Jill..part 2 of my answer to you about this dulcimer.... I recently posted another song on my YouTube Channel (because it is not in public domain) and couldn't post here (unless under Rock), a song about Scotland "Both Sides the Tweed" and I checked my tuning...it's A# F A# and I'm using the 1 1/2 to use fingerings for chords (normally in the of C) to make it even lower....it's still not quite LOW enough as I strain in a few spots. Haunting melody.
Jill, it's a custom model...all Koa with ebony keyboard. You can't see the grain in the wood at all in this video, but it's very warm w/ golden tones and the sound is very "woodsy" rich, I think. It's basically the model they make for the Winfield champion, but without the gold-tone tuners and with the 1 1/2 fret and an internal pick up. I play it in lower tunings so I can sing with it...CGC and below usually. I've discovered if I tune to CGC and play as if in the key of C in a DAD tuning (using the 1 1/2 fret), I am playing in the key of Bb which my voice seems to like.
Steven, I'm so pleased you decided to give some feedback, I really appreciate that! I learned to sing through posting at this forum, and receiving encouraging feedback.
Thank you Dulcie-Mer. This is one of my favorite melodies as well!

Thanks Janene. Do you know the wood (top, and back/sides)?
Jill, it's a standard size McSpadden with a 1+ fret
Hi Janene,
Hard to tell - its that a Ginger or a standard?
Thanks, Val...glad you found it. And glad I stumbled upon this song one day, the melody is pretty.
Beautiful rendition Jan, been a long time since I heard this one, very well done.
