Here is a song in honor of summer, in the merry month of June! This arrangement of "It's a Rosebud in June" is based on the version collected by Cecil Sharp in Somerset in 1904. It is played in the key of Dm (C-G-C, Capo 1). Basic tablature for this song is available at www.JessicaComeauDulcimer.com.
It's a rosebud in June and violets in full bloom,
And the small birds singing love songs on each spray. CHORUS
CHORUS:
We'll pipe and we'll sing, Love.
We'll dance in a ring, Love.
When each lad takes his lass
All on the green grass,
And it's all to plough
Where the fat oxen graze low,
And the lads and the lasses to sheep-shearing go.
When we have all sheared our jolly, jolly sheep,
What joy can be greater than to talk of their increase? CHORUS
For their flesh it is good; it's the best of all food,
And their wool it will clothe us and keep our backs from the cold. CHORUS
Here's the ewes and the lambs, here's the hogs and the rams,
And the fat wethers too they will make a fine show. CHORUS

Thank you for sharing this. Its lovely and I enjoyed your rendition of the song.
Thank you, Paul! :-) I'm playing a walnut and redwood McSpadden that I named Rhiannon. She was a gift dulcimer (a prize, actually), and I was soon amazed by the richness and volume of her voice! Do you play with a group in Somerset, or do you perhaps play by yourself or with friends?
Beautifully played. Lovely tone.
Paul Crocker. Somerset.
Thank you so much, Marg! I think it is wonderful that you are able to share your love of music with your family! :-) The first time I ever saw a mountain dulcimer was when my Grandmom was playing her dulcimer with my Dad after she had just begun to learn it herself... I daresay that the dulcimer is a joy, at whatever stage you may be!
Your playing is lovely. I love you inherited your grandmom's dulcimer.
I'm new to the dulcimer and music, so my playing isn't near where it should be but my grandchildren love to come and help me strum. Passing down the love of music and the dulcimer to one of them would be beautiful
Thank you, Danny! :-)
Thank you so much, Helen, and thank you for listening! :-)
Thank you, Kevin! It is one of those beautiful English ballads that keeps returning! :-)
A lovely arrangement and well played. I enjoyed it very much :)
Thank you, Dan! :-)
Oh, thank you, Helen! You're so nice! :-)
That's very kind of you, Ken! Thank you! :-)
Thank you so much, Gary! :-)
