The A.R. Kern dulcimer is tuned DAA; I'm strumming with a short quill and noting with a piece of bamboo (got from FOTMD's own Dusty Turtle). Our main source for this song is the re-issue "The Doc Watson Family" Smithsonian/Folkways recording. (The recording was previously issued in 1963.) Accordin...
@Rev-Wayne-Mcallister - I look forward to seeing the video you & Sharon put together! Mark & I are tickled that our little movie inspired y'all to learn the song.
Good Morning from Louisville.
I have spent two days now (I'm on Spring Break) playing along with Mark and you and I "BELIEVE" I have "I'm Troubled" under control LOL. Sharon is working on the chords on her Autoharp. We will "Attempt" to download a video in the near future. TKS for sharing your gift(s) - I am truly inspired/motivated/encouraged etc watching the two of you. Blessings. Wayne
Jane, it's a great collection! Surely, there's something on the recording that would appeal to each of the Backyard Buskers.
Lovely, sweet sound. Must get me that Watson family CD!
Thank you, Cheryl! That Watson family album is a treasure trove of great music.
It's good to have you back home.
Just got back and what a treat to hear you both play this song. I'm a big Doc Watson fan so this was extra special to hear your version w/ dulcimer and guitar. Loved it!
It would be fun, Kim! Maybe someday we'll get to. :)
You were missed here at FOTMD last week, Kim; glad you're back!
Thank you for the kind words. I'll also pass them along to the guitar picker/lead singer. :) Sure would be fun to play this and have you join us! I can hear you on fiddle. . .
Stephanie, I'm sorry about your summer cold! Glad you enjoyed the video. . . and that we didn't make you feel worse. I'm loving this little Kern dulcimer.
Thanks again, friends! We appreciate you all taking the time to listen and comment. We're still open to any suggestions for changes, improvements, etc.
Bobby, you know some of my favorite old-timey singers can be found here at FOTMD. That Watson family recording is a great source.
Oh so pretty! Love the harmonies. And its great to see that bamboo (which requires constant attention in our yard)being put to good use. Nice dulcimer, there. You really lucked out.
That sounds good... can't wait!
Thank you, y'all!
Jim, we can all play this one at the camp out.
Dandy job on this one, Robin. You and Mark will have to play this one at the camp out.
YEAH YEAH YEAH! That was BEAUTIFUL, Robin you sing wonderfully loved your harmony with Mark and the song was perfect. Please do some more.:)
Robin, this is GREAT! I can do nothing but echo John Henry's comment: more please.
I really enjoyed that ,and so did you two by the look of things! As Oliver Twist famously said "can I have some more please"John
Singing! Mark, Robin ... you guys sing!!! The playing, singing and companionship here is all very heartwarming. Sincere thanks for sharing.
Most enjoyable Robin.
You have a lovely voice, you must sing more often.

Friends, many thanks from my favorite guitar picker and me!
We don't play out much and we're practicing, getting ready to play out in about a month-- out not meaning on our porch. And we sing out even less than we play out . . . I welcome any suggestions for changes, improvements, etc.
Leonard, we paid those birds! Hey, my friend, I've not forgotten about Durang's Hornpipe . I've just never gotten my play with Mark's flatpicking to sound right. . . Maybe someday I'll get it worked out.
EDIT: for Leonard-- It's St. Ann's Reel I've supposedly not forgotten about. I'm losing my mind.
RavenMadd, the guitar is in standard tuning.
