Description:

A traditional Welsh love song, from the Maria Jane Williams 'Ancient National Airs of Gwent and Morganwg'. The title can be translated as 'The Pure (or Gentle) Bird'. It is a common convention in traditional Welsh poetry for the poet to send a bird as a messenger to his loved one.

That melody really plucks the heartstrings!

It's a lovely song - the Welsh words to it are beautiful, but don't translate well. :-)

Very pretty, Beth. I wish I had heard your version before attempting my own, which I paired with Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn and Cader Idris .  You have more creative chords than I.

Thanks for pointing me to the Welsh medley Dusty - it’s lovely! As to my creative chords, it’s only because I can’t get my fingers round whole chords, so I just look for the melody and some notes that I can reach and that harmonise!

Your play is wonderful, as is the sentiment suggested in the title.  Thank you for sharing this with us, Beth.
