Description:

Not a Welsh tune this time, but a favourite of mine - and one I found I could play with the 1.5 fret on my new dulcimer. I fluffed the last note a bit - it's so hard to play something right through without a mistake!

Well, I've noodled (love this word) around with this piece, Beth but it is definitely a work in progress.LOL. As always, though onwards & upwards!

All the best with it - let me know if you need anything more from me! :-)

Thanks, Beth!  I am going to see if this makes sense tomorrow when I sit to practice.

Is this your own arrangement or is there an online TAB available? My New Harmony is tuned to DAD and does have a 1 1/2 fret.  FYI I grew up in Devon, just a little south of Wales! LOL.

Hi! So glad you liked my playing, but I’m afraid it’s my own arrangement. I don’t follow tabs at all. I just noodle around until I find a melody I like, then find some notes to harmonise with it. Which means that I rarely play a tune the same way twice! Most of the melody is played on the highest D string (with the lowest note dipping down to the 1.5 fret on the A string). The A and lower D strings are mainly played as drones. However at the end of the second and third lines of the song, I play a partial C chord, using the 1.5 fret on the A string and the 3rd full fret on the top D string,  but leaving the bottom D unfretted. Then I slide my fingers up so that I have a partial D chord, with my fingers on the 3rd full fret of the A string and the 5th full fret of the top D. I hope this makes some sense! :-)
