I fell in love with this piece the first time I saw it! A very strange piece in deed. Awkward but interesting? About 25 1/2 inch VSL, 3 and a quarter tall sound box, pine with a walnut fret board.

This is not mine. John Rice Irwin purchased this piece about forty years ago and it is displayed at the Museum of Appalachia.(Were I work)

Lisa, this piece doesn't have feet, I suppose some folks might have a time with the height. I would liken it to any large Galax? I'm going to make one for myself out of the pine with a walnut staple board.

Awkward because of its sound box height, Dan? It suggests to me that it was played on a table, like traditionally tall langeliks .
