Thanks, Folkfan. I'm not sure what "thing" you're referring to, but it's got to be a slide or hammer-on I would guess. I made this video the day the dulcimette arrived.

Really nice, Dusty. Like that thing you do with at the 2nd fret with your index finger. Sort of a bouncy little twangy sound.

Thanks for listening, Mike. I must admit that I haven't been playing that baritone dulcimette much recently since I've been working on fingerpicking and stuff requiring more sustain. Maybe it's time to get back into some fast fiddle tunes again.

Thanks, John. I think I recorded that even before "Mama I Just Threw Up on the Couch" was a gleam in your eye.

Wow...I was still in dulcimer diapers and yet to find this site when you posted this one. That was outstanding!

Dusty, while my face is not much to look at, it is more the reflection off of my rapidly receding hairline that concerns me, one of the reasons why I tend to focus on the instrument when recording, LOL

Glad you're back, John H. And thanks for your comments. Ilearned my first half dozen songs on the dulcimer by watching YouTube videos and really appreciate it when you can actually see the fingers on the fretboard. The least I can do is let others see what I'm doing. Plus, I doubt anyone would listen if you had to look at my face the whole time!

Hi Dusty, still in the process of catching up on stuff that has been posted since I was 'away'. Really enjoyed your Soldier's Joy, in particular the camera angle, which clearly shows fretting during play. A good aid to anyone aiming to pick all strings.

thank you

JohnH

Thanks foryour words of encouragement, folks. I am hoping to build up my repertoire of fiddle tunes to make good use of this pretty little dulcimer.

The dulcimette's got a nice sound, Dusty-- though it doesn't sound like a mandolin, it reminds me of a mandolin. Nice play on a good ol' tune!

Thanks, John. I only hope my playing improves enough to warrant such a beautiful instrument.
