Fáinne Geal An Lae (The Dawning of the Day)

musician/member name: People & Blogs
Duration: 00:02:29
This tune was written by the blind Irish harper Thomas Connellan (1640-1698). I am playing a three-stringed mountain dulcimer made of cherry and redwood by Terry McCafferty and tuned C#G#c#.

Thanks so much, @Christine-Shoemaker and @Benjamin-W-Barr-Jr. This is a pretty song; my goal was just to stay out of the way and not mess it up.

Thanks for your comments, @Bob.

This is fantastic! It's quite popular with pipers (aka Raglan Road), and obviously it's perfect for a dulcimer player such as you!!

Thanks, @Gordon-Hardy and @Steven Berger. Steven, I'm tempted to as if this is the only version of the tune you've heard, but I'm afraid of the answer!

Be thou not afraid. Dusty! I heard two versions of this tune at different Civil War re-enactments I was involved in. Once by a regimental band, and the other by a group of company fifers. Both were fantastic, but, I really like your version, also, which probably is closer to how the composer meant it to be played. pimento
