That feeling when Spring makes a surprise visit towards the end of Winter...
This is the first song I've composed on this beautiful instrument. Her name is Lady June Janelle.
It's a Folkroots originally owned by June Keck and hand-painted by Janelle Johnson (janellejohnson.com). And somehow this little gem ended up on eBay and I bought it for $250!
The painting is signed by Janelle so I was able to contact her. Sadly, I learned from Janelle that June passed away several years ago from Alzheimers.
I am dedicating this song to June and Janelle. Thank you so much for a priceless wonder!

Thanks!
@terry-wilson, @mandy Thank you so much for your cheers. This is one of those songs that just seemed to flow - it took less than a day to finish then a bazillion takes to get the final track (audio). The video was a demo for another FOTMD member asking about the recording.
Mandy, the Tshirt was a gift from my daughter but I would bet it would be on Amazon.
Touch of Spring. Wow. Absolutely beautiful song. Watching both hands working together as one is just mesmerizing.
I had t p do a double listen on this one, and then again tomorriw. You know, some songs just hit me this way. Kinda like the first time I heard , "River, Take Me Along."
Thank you.
Ok wow! I love every single thing about this. Beautiful.
Please tell me where you got the shirt too.

Bravo, my friend! Exquisitely composed and executed. More, please.
Hey Susan!
I'm so glad you're here! I tried to wait to have you show me 1-3-5 but, alas I failed. I checked it out on the interwebz.
Living under my rock, I never heard of 1-3-5 so this song would not exist w/o YOU! It's not quite there yet but it's only about a month old. Still getting it under my fingers...
See you in a couple of weeks!
(Are any other Old Growthers on here to your knowledge?)

Great song and great playing!
Hi John! Thanks so much for your kindness!
I posted the audio and a couple of members were asking if I used a looper or overdubs to get the sound. So I sat down and did a quick recording to demonstrate. I muffed it a couple of times (including a critical harmonic- naturally lol) but again it was just to demonstrate the technique.
Thanks again John

Great song and great playing!
@Marg, @Janene-Millen
Thank you very much! It means so much to me. It's such a treat to be able to share with the community.
I LOVE this site! Because of people like you!

So impressive, thanks for sharing. Beautiful sound, beautifully played.
What a full sound you have! Very dynamic and unique. Inspired
Great composition & VERY well performed ! I own a Folkroots also & I love the deep rich sound.
Thank you, Marc, I really appreciate your comment.
The listing did not say the brand but I figured if nothing else, it would look great hanging in my studio. When I opened the old guitar case it came in, I was not disappointed.
Then I strummed it...
Mellow box, mellow tune. Enjoyed it!
I've been hawking e-bay again (durn DAD struck again it seems) and would have to say you did well. Was it at auction or a buy it now item?
Thanks very much, Jim. I would have responded earlier but I am at the final day of the Menucha Dulcimer Festival in Corbett, OR. It’s a beautiful setting on 100 acres high above the Columbia River Gorge. The food was fantastic and the programs were outstanding!
To answer your question, this was actually an auction. I spotted her with no bids but there were 5 days left. I waited until the final few minutes of the auction and placed the default bid price of $250 and won it. I couldn’t believe my fortune!
