I find the Irish Brigade monument particularly moving. Of course I relate strongly to dogs. The symbol of the Irish Wolfhound in repose...just so poignant for me! That incredible Celtic cross. Took these while my husband was leading a tour of visiting VIPs.
Nice. I had a wonderful few days in Gettysburg many years ago. It is an incredibly moving place. I was surprised to see how small certain battlefields were and how close the soldiers were to one another during the periods in between battles. Of course, those fields of unknown soldier headstones are devastating. Often all that was known was the state regiment from which a dead soldier came.
