I appreciate the comments Alan and John! Thank you.
Robin...I was a teenager wearing my Catholic school girl's uniform, living in Hawaii, and listening to the Beach Boys, the Association, the Monkees...other AM radio greats :-)
I think I entirely missed the folkie scene but I keep going back to discover bits...thanks to YouTube!
@Steven-Berger: I didn't even know of "Percy's Song", but I listened to it...definitely based on it. In the recording of the Dylan song I heard on YouTube, he even references the folk singer's version of Wind and Rain that inspired his song (I heard the singer, but didn't see his version of TW&R). Thanks for the heads up.
@Dusty-Turtle: The song evokes images I wish I didn't have to carry around in my head!
Great song. Almost as good as Bad Girl's Lament. Keep them coming.
Thank you Redmando and...Mandy thanks! I like the choppy sound of the banjammer!
I just noticed I MISSPELLED road/rode on the lyrics!!!!
You can't beat a good murder ballad. Love your rhythmic technique Janene.
Beautiful as always Ms. Janene!

Beautifully performed and the instrument is ideal for the song thank you for posting.
Very nicely done. Thank you.
You're too young to be a '60's folkie!
Nicely played and sung, Janene!

What an uplifting tune! Obviously, not. Pretty gruesome story, isn't it? I will never look at a fiddle the same way.
Nice playing, as always, Janene. It's a pleasure to listen to your songs.
Beautiful, Janene! The Banjammer, I think, makes this song quite special. BTW, did you know that Bob Dylan based "Percy's Song" on this ballad?
