John, I have a question. Again, thanks for this wonderful video. I've been working on this tune but really have a problem getting to that 235 chord. I have very small hands and it's really hard for me to get there at all, much less with any speed. Is there any alternative chordthat I could play there?
Thanks Joe, I'm so glad that you found it helpful. Sometimes it's just a different phrase or approach that clicks. Steve is massively awesome at what he does (and a good friend as well), so I know that he has some stuff out there that you can find helpful.
Thanks David and CB! The cool part is that the "messed with" version and the basic version can be played with each other side by side. Hopefully some dulcimer clubs with members of varying experience might try it to accommodate the different ability levels.
I big "thank you" to everyone who has taken a look/listen. Karen and I hear quite often how people have no other dulcimer players to interact with where they live, so hopefully this gives some of y'all a chance to have a quick lesson and pick up a new tune or technique. Just remember to make it FUN for YOU!
Thank y'all so much for the positive comments! Dusty, I really appreciate your specific example and comment...thanks to all for giving this a look/listen.
John, we all owe you thanks for taking the time to present this tune. I had never heard it before you and Cory posted your version the other day, but before the end of this video I was jamming alongside you.
You are a much more self aware player than I am. I was teaching my local dulcimer group a tune the other day and someone asked me what that thing was I was doing with my thumb. It is exactly the quick hammer-on and pull-off that you demonstrate here, but I was totally unaware that I was doing it. You are fine teacher, my friend.

Thank you John, I really like seeing other's play a song I have learned in a different way. I love playing this song with a noter. All the slides and I use hammer-on's and hope to be able to incorporate pull offs later. That's in my future and will come back later for your help.
Gail, you are very welcome. Try a 2-3-0 and see how it suits you.

Thanks Gail (and Karen )! My hope is that maybe some folks will be able to add a worthwhile tune to their collection. I like this tune a bunch!
Thanks so much for posting this It's a great version and you are an excellent teacher!
Awesome job my honey!
Thanks y'all! I just really hope that folks will get some use out of it...if not the messin' part, then at least the basic version of the tune.
Love the messin around you did there John. Great job, nice lesson
Excellent instructional video. I did subscribe to your channel because I'll need to watch this many times

Oh ya, John I have been fiddling with pull offs, I really saw yours and been practicing with my noter.
Thanks you are a terrific teacher
John, you have a great way of talking and explaining what you are trying to teach (I'm assuming there's a talking head just outside the video )
Dusty, I learned this song through Lisa (Strumelia), she has 2 or 3 lesson video's on it, a noter/drone version using hammer ons and slides.
It sounds fun, is fun to play, give her's a listen for a new version.

Thanks Lexie, let me know if I can help.
