I'm in southeastern Ohio yet not close to what would've been main navigable waterways, most notably the Muskingum and, to a lesser extent, the Hocking.

Nice find, Robin. I used to find 'em on my grandparents farm when I was a kid, but I haven't found a new one in decades. Yours is in realy nice shape.

John, I'd send it (airmail) to someone who would nurture it if I knew of any such person.

Well Robin, if you are not too sure how you feel about it, perhaps you should send it (airmail) to someone who would nuture it............................?John

The arrowhead was on top of the soil, hidden under a weed. It didn't take long to recognize what it was and, boy, was I surprised. Something indescribable about finding the object. . .
07/16/10 11:38:49PM @flint-hill:
Really cool. It's a mystical thing to find these.

Neat Robin I have a large collection my husband found as a boy plowing. I have them in display boxes. This one is in really good shape it's hard to find them without the tip being broken off. Nice find!

You're welcome, John Henry! I've got to admit, though, it was so exciting I couldn't not share it.
07/16/10 11:55:02AM @robin-thompson:
I looked at pages in your book, Michael-- wow! You've done a great service to put together the information you've gathered on some of the earliest inhabitants of your area of the Great Lakes. And I hope you find more, too, Michael!

It was a thrill to find it, Bobby-- felt like being a kid again. At least I think I felt like a kid-- it's been so long.

That's exciting, Robin- good for you! I have found lots on my property and the surrounding area. My recently published book shows a good portion of my collection, and features illustrations that are sections of a wall mural at my place. The wall mural depicts the a small encampment of the stone-age people here on my land.If you'd like to see some of the book:http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/957173 Hope you find more, Robin.Michael Vickey
