Here is the last of my New Jersey Mountain Dulcimer builds!
Mountain Dulcimer #102 is now strung and singing! It has a beautiful voice, clear and strong with six strings. I think the Lacewood and Curly Maple combo is a smashing success :-) The Birdseye Maple fingerboard adds a slice of distinctive contrast to the darker woods and the Black Walnut adds depth and warmth as well.
This instrument will be going home to its owner in beautiful Ireland soon!
Dulcimer #102 will be the last dulcimer I will make in New Jersey, and I will be briefly pausing my instrument building until we get situated in our new home in North Carolina. It is a good way to bring this phase of my building career to a happy transition.
It is fitting that i leave New Jersey upon building this one, my "Carty" model, named after it's designer Rich Carty, who along with his wonderful wife Mary Carty run the Pinelands Folk Music and Basketry Center in Mount Holly New Jersey. They are a legend in the dulcimer world and have been amazing friends!
A heartfelt and sincere "Thank You" to everyone who so kindly has been so supportive :-) I really am excited to be building again soon in beautiful Mount Airy, North Carolina!

Thanks very much Dusty! I hope to be building again by mid July, if all goes well
The dulcimer sounds beautiful, Bob. Good luck with the move. I hope to see and hear of your North Carolina-born dulcimers very soon.
Bob, I love your video. Your story, your playing, and most of all, your song. One of my all time favorites on harmonica. You did well. Mount Airy, North Carolina, will be blessed with a wonderful new citizen and his family.
Thank you Terry, your very nice comment made me smile- I am happy that you liked the tune !
That is gonna be one lucky person in Ireland, Bob! And good luck in your new home.....NJ's loss, NC's gain!
I know it will love the new owner and new country of Ireland! And thank you, the family is so excited to get to North Carolina in June
