Easy! The scale starts in the middle, then goes both ways.
Now, the dulcimer historians among us can begin debating her intended scale and where it begins.
Dan, I think she's got a future as a luthier. When does her apprenticeship begin? From the looks of her clay dulcimer, the apprenticeship may well be underway as we speak. It's obvious she has both large gaps (whole steps) and small gaps (half-steps) between frets.
