Thanks Benjamin, appreciate your listening. Cynthia, I'm a little embarrassed to admit I only recognized 1 of the names you mentioned, which sent me to YouTube...What a discovery...thanks. I particularly like Greg Brown's guitar playing which I think will inspire me to trysome stuff on the dulcimer.
This is as pretty a version as I can imagine Janene. Think Eric Andersen meets Tom Paxton meets Jaime Brockett meeds Greg Brown's the Poet Game. Huge praises for this one. I can't get a ND singing version to sound good at all.
Hi Janene, I could be mistaken about what will be transfered to the new site. Best to reply to Lisa's posting about the site move. Also, wish you hadn't joined the "headless video" crowd. Be nice to see the "whole you" performing the song
Thanks James and Ken. Didn't know about the Carter Family "first". And Ken, there is room for different versions of this tune and I liked yours as well!! I try to listen to as many versions as I can. About videos...I thought I read in "new site" messagesthat the current videos will all move to the new site but then in the future, links need to be used instead of direct uploads. I can't remember what percentage are direct uploads...I used to always link but I think the most recent are direct. I have always uploaded everything (good, bad and ugly) to my YouTube Channel "JaneneM" since 2009 though.
the very first song that the Carter Family recorded in Bristol, TN back in 1927. Great rendition. As suggested, put it onto YouTube as direct uploads to the site will not move with us to the new site.
Janene, I am so glad you finally posted your version.. It is great singing and playing. I like it much better than my "old man singing a sad song" version. Your finger picking has such finesse to it. It is a style of picking that I use to do a lot of on the guitar before my hands started giving me trouble. Please post it to YouTube and upload it again here with the link From what I understand, all the tunes uploaded directly to this site will be lost in the move.
Thanks Janene. It was a delight to listen to you both sing and play. What a treat!
Thanks Patty, so glad you enjoyed it
Janene, that is beautiful Excellent job on that
Steve and Christine...thanks for your comments. Appreciate your listening.
Very nice Janene,Very nice indeed!
Very nice Janene - I loved both your finger picking and your vocals. Well done!

Cynthia, I posted a singing noter drone version of this song a ways back. It is still on the site. I know you can do it, Cynthia

Nice fingerpicking.

Thanks Gordon and Lexie, appreciate your listening
Just really lovely Janene, your singing is so soothing and lovely.
Ah, Janene, that was lovely. Sweetly played and sweetly sung. Thank you.
Thanks much Rob..
I want to also correct my spelling of Bonnie Carol's name!
That was beautiful, Janene. You have the voice for songs like that... shoot, you have the voice for most songs!
